A lot of architects have interpreted building materials variously until now. The purpose of this paper is to pay attention to a Japanese modern architect, Yoshiro TANIGUCHI who gave various accounts of “materials”. We also study the meanings of “materials” in his writings and clarify how he interpreted the term, “materials”. The study concludes by suggesting we find his five critical viewpoints about “materials”. |
