| 内容記述 | Roy Harris points out that linguistics has twin assumptions: telementation and fixed codes. Telementation explains verbal communication as transferring one person’s thought to another person. Furthermore, fixed codes necessarily accompany telementation. If fixed codes do not exist, telementation fails to achieve verbal communication successfully. In this sense, telementation and fixed codes are the head and tail of the same coin. But Harris insists that that is not the case. On the other hand, some criticize Harris’s claim above. In this paper, we shall examine and consider arguments between Harris and his opponents. |
