The test surfaces were flat plates having vertically brazed cylinders. Comparing the experimental data in reciprocating motion with those of forced convection, it was revealed that a bias Reynolds number exists, which may be due to the un-steady convection effect. The bias Reynolds number depends, within this experimental range, not on the moving speed but on the surface geometry.
