内容記述 | This paper describes Industrial and Management Engineering (IME) which prepares to meet the technologies challenge of the 21st century in terms of its dynamic history, desired roles, and scope as well as potential future. To play a crucial future role of IME, its essentials and requisites are proposed. The area covered is wide and includes: systems integration techniques, flexible production structure, knowledge-based intelligent production, human-centered production, environmentally conscious production, and global production as a world class manufacturing capabilities. Furthermore, this paper aims to design a Flexible Integrated Manufacturing (FIM) system which is a unified approach to manufacturiang technology and production management to redesign the limits of traditional thinking and to find creative solutions to the real-world problems of future. The FIM approach, as the fundamental tools and concepts to achieve dramatic improvements in manufacturing systems, enables the survival philosophy and framework for IME toward the future. | |||||||||
