Based on an analysis of three planning methods, this study presents an integrated planning method for the living environment from the point of view of the interaction of the three methods. These three planning methods, namely the planning of place, the planning of inter-sociality and the planning of directivity, are derived from a concept of the elements of the living environment required to connect the insides, openings and outsides of houses. In this paper, the results of an analysis of the planning of place and the planning of inter- sociality are described with reference to the relationship between (i) the units of living space and the openings and (ii) the number of layers in each sphere of space around the openings in urban housing |
