With a view to comparing the difference between the vibration suppressing effect by an active control and that by passive (material) damping, the active control of vibrations has been investigated in a sample of a cantilever beam structure with a single sensor and actuator, by constructing a feedback controller incorporating a 16 bit micro-computer PC9801VX21 especially enhanced by a numeric data processor i80287. As the modeling system, a lumped-parameter system is employed on account of reducing the processing time. The dynamic compensator as the system controller, including a minimal order type observer based on Gopinath's method, is designed on the optimal regulator, with the performance index being of the form J(u) =∫∞0(x’Qx +u'Ru)e2σtdt (:Q≧0, R>0). The sampling speed of 3msec is realized by using both C-language and assembly-one. When the feedback gain is set for σ=5, R=1 and Q=block diag [10, 10, 10, 10], the experimental results of a mechanical flexible objective (brass plate (320 x 35 x 4.15 mm3) are as follows: In the freely decaying vibration state, the active control effect increases the vibration damping properties from the damping capacity Q-1=0.004 to the higher damping Q-1ac=0.0798 (=20Q-1), while in the resonant state, the active damping also has the effect of suppressing the resonant amplitude to about 1/12. The pure active anti-vibration effect for the present system corresponds to about 3.3 times the maximum material damping Q-1m=0.023 measured in the practical high damping metal SIA. |
