However，because of the larger copper loss caused by being designed with a high resistance rotor，the efficiency and the power factor are lower than those of conventional motors. To attain improvement of the efficiency and the power factor，the authors have been making research for optimum rotor material and rotor structure in this motor. The results of some tests made on an experimental solid iron rotor motor are discussed in this paper.
