In this paper we describe an experimental study of the characteristics of a specific synchronous motor. This motor has the unique structure in the rotor. The cylindical solid iron which corresponds to the starting winding and damping winding in the general synchronous motor is fixed on the surface of the magnetic pole. Starting torque and damping torque of this motor is produced by the interaction of the rotating magnetic flux and eddy-current in the cylindical solid iron. Therfore, they are larger than that of the general synchronous motor. This motor is useful for driving the load which become frequently starting and stoping conditions. |
