| 内容記述 | Changes in the frequency of extreme heavy rainfall, which has become a significant social concern in recent years due to global warming, are influenced by variations in atmospheric stability as well as changes in atmospheric water vapor content. In this study, we analyzed long-term trends in convective available potential energy （CAPE） around Japan, as an indicator of atmospheric instability, using the JRA-3Q dataset and applying the Mann-Kendall test and Sen’s slope estimator. Our results indicate a stabilizing trend over the sea around Okinawa and the Pacific Ocean south of Japan. Conversely, destabilizing trends were observed during the warm season over coastal sea areas along both the Pacific and Sea of Japan sides of Honshu. These destabilizing trends may be attributed to enhanced evaporation at the sea surface associated with global warming. | |||||||
